Rebecca, Licensed Massage Therapist

I grew up learning traditional Song Moo Kwan Taekwondo under Supreme Grandmaster Joon Pyo Choi, founder of Oriental Martial Arts College, and Senior Master Tim Stanforth, my father. Growing up in the martial arts world, alternative medicines such as acupressure, massage, acupuncture, and therapeutic exercise was a large part of that world. When my father suffered a work injury and was told he would have to stop practicing martial arts, it pushed me to enter the alternative health care field. I obtained my massage therapy license in 2007 and have been practicing for 13 years now.

One of the first philosophies I learned in martial arts is “training the body, mind, spirit and emotions”, which has led to my core belief that each part is all interconnected. That philosophy has also influenced my education. In 2019, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. How can I continue to train and help others without learning about the mind, body, spirit and emotions? For me, both martial arts and massage are a lifelong learning paths, that allow me to use that knowledge to help other people. I’m currently a 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo, and a 2nd gup in Kimoodo. I continue to train and teach in both disciplines. There are so many modalities in massage, there is always something new to learn and practice. I practice trigger point, deep tissue, hot stones,  and relaxation massage. I’m currently in a program learning a new modality called Stone Medicine, and plan to finish this September. I’m excited to be a part of the Embody Health and Wellness team, and to help our clients with their various needs.
